Bada Imambara
Bada Imambara plays a significant role as a religious Muslim monument, built in year 1784 by the Nawab of Awadh, Asaf-ud-Daula. He was fourth Nawab of Awadh. The architectural design of Bada imambara is very unique with its construction and holds the major tourist attraction. Bara Imambara is the world’s largest arched room design without any pillars.

Bada Imambara is also the venue for the Muslims who come here every year to celebrate the religious festival of Muharram. Mostly tourist prefer to visit Lucknow in the best season of October to March, among these month weather is very pleasant to visit here. The time of opening and closing of this monument is morning 6:00am to evening 5:00 pm.  


British Residency
British Residency is a very famous ancient and historical landmark of Lucknow. This famous Residency was built by Nawab of Awadh, Saadat Ali Khan, in 1800 AD. The building is more important because of its connections with the freedom struggle. The revolt of 1857 is one of those struggles which depicts its whole story. The most part of the building is spoiled by cannon fire during the siege. This British Residency is now ruins and is declared a protected monument by the Survey of Archaeological India. The opening and closing time of Lucknow British Residency is from 10:00 am to 5:00pm (Tuesday to Sunday) and is closed on Monday.


Rumi Darwaza
Rumi Darwaza is the most impressive design of Lucknow Nawabi Architecture. This gateway is standing with the height of 60 feet and was constructed in the year 1784 by Nawab Asaf –ud-Daula. It is a pleasant example of Awadh Architectural Style. The word Rumi comes from Rome which used to bebcompare with Istanbul, capital of Eastern Roman Empire.  Rumi gate is similar to Gateway in Istanbul and inspired from Istanbul to build a finest gateway in Lucknow.


There are other places also which are famous with their historic importance such as Noor Baksh Kothi, Kukrail, Ghanta Ghar, Chattar manzil and various other nearby places. For more information visit elucknow.com.
